What itinvolves.

Timber decking gives you a level, dry place to sit where a lawn or a slope would not. We build new decks, with steps and raised sections where the garden calls for them, and repair or refurbish ones that have seen better days.

A deck works best as part of the garden rather than an island in it, so we build it to meet the patio, the lawn and the planting around it.

  • Garden extensions
  • Sloped sites
  • New build gardens

What is included

What changesthe price.

Every quote is for the job in front of us, not a rate off a list. These are the things that move it.

Get a free quote
  1. The size of the deck
  2. Its height off the ground, and whether it needs steps or a raised frame
  3. The condition of what is there, if it is a repair
  4. The ground it is built on
  5. How it ties in with a patio, lawn or planting

Worth knowingbefore you book.

  • Planning

Decking does not usually need planning permission if it is no more than 30 centimetres above the ground and, together with other extensions and outbuildings, covers no more than half the garden. Higher decks do. Check with South Tyneside Council if yours is raised.

  • Looking after it

Timber decking lasts longest when it is cleaned once a year and kept clear of leaves, which hold moisture against the boards.

Questions aboutdecking.

Not answered here? Ask us, or call 07738 663396.

Do I need planning permission for decking?

Usually not for a low deck: under 30 centimetres high and covering no more than half the garden along with any other outbuildings. A raised deck is different, so check with South Tyneside Council.

Can you repair an old deck rather than replace it?

Often, yes. We repair and refurbish decks as well as building new ones. Send a photo and we will tell you which yours needs.

Can decking go on a slope?

Yes. Raised deck areas and steps are how a sloping garden gets a level place to sit.
